My name is Enid Twiglet and I am contemporary hand embroidery artist located in Perth, Western Austraila.
My love affair with hand embroidery started quite by accident in 2010 whilst I was studying silver jewellery making. It quickly became apparent to me that I much preferred to work with fabric than metal and from then on I haven't stopped making tiny stitches.
I am entirely self taught and I consider myself a bit of a rogue embroider; I do not follow any patterns or use any particularly technique and I prefer to free style my stitching which in turn creates an organic, illustrative style of hand embroidery.
All my work is stitched by hand, I never use a sewing machine for my embroideries. I prefer to use sewing thread rather than embroidery floss as the traditional thread is too thick and does not allow me to create the tiny stitches I require in my work
As well as making hand embroidered art and jewellery I also work with my husband to create a variety of different product ranges using laser cutting and engraving. We use my hand embroidered images as a basis for all of our creations. We like the bringing together of the traditional technique of hand embroidery with the modern technology of laser cutting.
